conversation!
talk talk walk
yesterday, the telephones connected
making my voice feel like cracked pepper
and a sound becoming a source of heat
finding it's way down thin wires
or over a public walkway
that i don't use;
because i'd rather dial.
but today, we ring together as friends
and say what is comfortable
and seperate;
and the dial tone is just right.
cereal boy.
my mouth is filled with grain and milk
my eyes are swollen with sleep and a lack of it.
my tongue is a raised groove of poor dental hygiene
and my lips feel the cracks in them like a truth.
and this vessel will carry me into an older age
when i slow down to feel each crack
and subside the swelling
and spoon feed my cereal.
